QUEEN RANIA'S SIGNATURE STYLE

Queen Rania of Jordan Mixes Local and Global Designers Like a Royal Pro

Queen Rania of Jordan joined her husband, King Abdullah, earlier today in Amman to meet with the national martial arts sports team. And though the occasion was the athletes' twelve medals earned at the recent Asian Games, it was Her Majesty’s ensemble that took the day's style gold. Rania dressed in her signature combo of a tailored top and skirt, but with a new twist: the look was an expert mishmash of local and international labels.

The balloon-sleeved white blouse from Jordanian designer Maison Makaraem was an ideal foil in both proportion and material for her eye-catching Sacai skirt. That accordion-pleat piece was color blocked in olive and marigold—two colors that, it bears noting, have been strong presences during the New York collections at shows including Michael Kors and Oscar de la Renta. The ladylike silhouette was offset somewhat by the military-style hardware around the waist.

A suite of polished accessories—an Apple Watch, Marni’s cheery sunflower yellow purse, and Dior’s printed heels—amped up the mix of old world and new.
